I'd be fascinated by your views on Tanglewood Tree, because the title track of that literally sums up the ending of my Eternal First Novel (and wow, was I surprised when I noticed that), and so it'd be interesting to hear what meaning someone who does not have a plot to hook straight into it derives there.
I wasn't going to write about the title track, actually; I think it's a perfect song but I was don't have much to say about it, lyrically speaking (though I'd love to hear your analysis.)
I was going to write about "The Mountain," "Cat-Eye Willie Claims his Lover," "Cowboy Singer," and maybe "Happytown (All Right With Me.)"
As for the title song, I have two separate levels of analysis: the one that I suspect was intended, and the one where it suddenly melded into a set of characters I'd been working with for ten years, which of course has nothing to do with the intentions behind the song's presentation. However, these two levels have gotten so mixed up into one another that I'm not sure I can tell any longer whether something I say about "Tanglewood Tree" is intelligible to anyone else on the planet. I can try, if you'd like, but I may wind up waving my hands in the air and gibbering.
