Why are LJ codes no longer working? I can't get cut-tags to write, and consequently spoiled at least one person for 3x02 of MI-5. How do I do cut-tags with this new weird formatting? The LJ FAQ is claiming that you still do them like so: <lj-cut text="Read more">
ellarien: Blue/purple pansy (Default)

They're working OK for me, but they did just change the posting interface this afternoon. Are you using the HTML (formerly known as plain) or RTF format?

I don't know! This new format just automatically comes up. I tried hitting both HTML and whatever the other button was, but I can't get cuts to work in either.

Very weird! I just did a test-post and it worked fine, but obviously yours isn't since your correctly-formatted tag is coming up as text. Wonder if your blog in particular got affected somehow? You might want to check the support tags.

Sorry, I meant check the support board (http://www.livejournal.com/support/help.bml). Looks like there have been a host of problems already with the new changes.

Also, it looks like someone else (http://www.livejournal.com/support/see_request.bml?id=675877) had this problem prior to the update page change (ignore the answer given, it's not helpful), so maybe there's another problem.

And again, becuase I'm curious... check the cluster (http://www.livejournal.com/misc/whereami.bml) you're on, because I'm wondering if that's the problem. (The other person I linked to is apparently on Hambone, so if you're on the same cluster...)

I'm on Hambone (used to be on Roastbeef, huh) and posted a cut tag earleir today that worked just fine.

Tested again, and it worked just fine for me.

Rachel: I was in the HTML tag on the update screen: there should *not* be a line of buttons that look kind of like the button in Word, jsut one small blue box on the left along the top of the box you put your entry in, and a tickybox with the words "Disable Auto-Formatting" to the right. If you see a whole row of icons there instead, you're in RTF. If I click on the RTF or HTML tabs to change to the other one, it takes a while for the proper one to load.

I was in the HTML tag

Tab, dammit, I was in the *tab*.

From: [identity profile] rachelmanija.livejournal.com

I tried both. Also tried with and without auto-formatting disabled. The cut doesn't work in any of them.

Try a different browser, and see if that works. I'm using Firefox 1.5 right now.

(And I'm going to bed now...*yawn*)

And if all else fails, rot-13 (http://rot13.com/) all spoilers until you can cut again. :) (simple letter-substitution algorithm, which serves to disguse spoilers from the casual glance. Readers just put the coded text back in the text box and click the button to decode it.)
