This is a Yuletide poll. Skip if you don't know or don't care or are burned out or cannot spare any attention from the hypnotic countdown counter.

Dark Lord [livejournal.com profile] astolat has added a countdown timer to Yuletide, for "maximum terror." Is it working? Take the poll!

My favorite thing about that page is not the timer but the updating number of how many people have yet to post their stories, proving that if I posted mine this very second, I'd still be ahead of over 600 fans.

I was very relieved to see that [livejournal.com profile] astolat anticipated that having 600+ writers post stories within an hour might cause a crash.

It's very possible that my family members are all working on Christmas day and I'll pretty much have the house to myself and nothing to do but read stories.

That would suck.

Read the stories written for my friends

ITYM by my friends, which means it won't happen until people start announcing they wrote such-and-such. :)

No, I did mean for, because by won't be known till later. Whereas for will be announced.

Well, ITYM was really responding to *my* tastes - i.e., I'm a fic snob and don't want to reasd it unless I know it's well-written. And there seem to be a large number of fairly good writers on my f-list, so I shall probably wait to read until they admit to writing, unless someone posts with inordinate squees over the one they got. :)

I am completely amused by this phenomenon and think fondly of y'all and wish y'all well, even if I am not part of the madness. :-)

I'm not writing for Yuletide and the countdown is still terrifying. I'm trying to suppress the urge to be up at midnight watching it so I can see all the numbers change at once.

I shall probably do what I did last year, and read things that people who are paying attention say are good. That sounds sane.

Have not even looked at the counter-thingie, as I have my own internal panic-o-meter right here.

I feel pretty good about having 600 people more half-assed than I am. At least I have 8000 words at this point! (They're just not words in any order.)

Now that I'm not actually panicking myself, I am so amused by how many of the answers vary between "OMG you people are INSANE!" and "AAAAHHHHH!!!! Deadline approaching!"

I personally am neenering over the fact that getting my story in about a day ahead of time means I got it in before 700+ people! *evil laughter that I will probably regret next year when I am the 800th person to upload*

As the first poll question explained, it is a holiday secret santa fanfic exchange for obscure fandoms. Also see [livejournal.com profile] yuletide.
